Fundraising With Pepper Spray Key Chains
For a great many years, we have all been subjected to purchasing overpriced and mediocre tasting candy bars for fundraisers, whether it was for a school, a church, scouting, or a band uniform drive. Why did we do it, and why would we continue to do so? Two reasons we would overpay for a lousy candy bar; first, and these are in no particular order, we LOVE chocolate, and second, and possibly more importantly, we don’t mind spending a little extra IF it is for a fundraiser, especially a good cause!
Now, picture this, a girl from the high school cheerleading team, or your neighbor on behalf of his club, comes to ask YOU if you want to buy a nice, powerful, compact, effective key chain pepper spray for fifteen bucks. Well, I don’t see how anyone can turn that down, especially when pepper sprays are not sold in every corner store; you normally have to go out of your way to get one.
Incidentally, pepper sprays are legal in all fifty states, but a few states have restrictions as to where and how you obtain one, so this article is not going to pertain to NY, MA, MI, and WI. If you don’t recognize those two letter postal abbreviations for those states, don’t worry, the people that live there will know. However, to make this fun, just like a trivia question, the four states will be listed at the bottom of this article. Now for the remaining 46 states where you can easily buy and have a pepper spray, there are still many retail outlets that don’t happen to carry them, for whatever their individual reasons.
So, IF most people aren’t already carrying a pepper spray, and they’re not available everywhere you go, plus they can be sold for $15, $18, or $20, imagine how much money your group can make? People will buy them on impulse, and if they don’t need it, they can give it as a gift to a friend or loved one. Although, with the struggling economy, and more folks turning to crime, there are more purse and wallet snatchings, so carrying a form of self defense, is a splendid idea! A pepper spray is perfect for most people, of legal age, and they are easy to just throw in the purse, book bag, briefcase, or console of the car and forget about. Hopefully, you will never need it, but it IS good to have one just in case!
Now, without bending over backwards to find a way to secure these at wholesale prices, blah, blah, blah, and without a whole big production, the perfect solution can be this; The group decides to order ten for each member or student to be responsible for selling. Of course, in the case of little kids, it is the parents that do the selling anyway, as children shouldn’t be handling these pepper sprays, even though they are wrapped in a package.

Plus, the earnings will be much greater than they would be from selling candy bars for two bucks each, and they cost a buck, and they aren’t even that great. All someone would need to do, is figure out how many sellers you have, multiply by ten each, then order the appropriate number of “25 packs” and once they arrive, the fundraiser can begin! So, here’s a great idea to raise funds on your next go around. Hopefully, many will do this, while others are peddling those chocolate bars. Please note: Many companies that arrange fundraisers have salespeople that receive a commission for convincing you to sell this or that.
For those schools or groups that wouldn’t like the idea of pepper sprays for a fundraiser, we have some great catalogs featuring a wide variety of gift items. They can get one catalog for each member or student, allow a two week time period for everyone to gather up sales with payments, then the group keeps a 20% commission, forwards the rest of the funds to the company for the merchandise, which will be shipped to a specified location, then each member is given the items ordered by his or her people.
